Why did I start reading books.
This is how it all began
Why did I start you ask?
I was a young boy playing video games going to school working on the croop fields, the usual village activities. After 5 years of exhausting most of the content I was interested with games, I was also tired and felt that I needed to take a break for a while. I know what you're thinking, what could posibly happen that I would have to cease my usual gameplay for hours. To be honest, exhaustion, I had these headaches and my eyes began to sting, really unusual. I began to feel sick and that allone was enough for me to step away from the screen for a while and do something else.
But what?
Curiosity saved my mind
After walking aimlessly around the room trying to immerse myself in any new activity other than staring at the screen for 9 hours I was not able to find anything that would grab my attention. I tried playing my guitar, that I really love doing, I tried drawing some of my favorite manga characters but as soon as the drawing was done I was left with nothing to keep me occupied.
Frustrated with nothing to do, I just sat in my chair and stared in empty space bored out of my mind. I saw a book on the shelf with a colorful and interesting cover. Being a fantasy geek I always love to see mages and warriors, this one had just that. On the cover there was an old man dressed in a robe holding a staff, and next to him was a young boy with a long double edged sword in it's sheet. I got curious and I grabbed it, the title said " Magician Apprentice " hmm, that got my attention! It is a book from Raymond E. Feist the first of 3 books that he published called the " Rift Wars Saga ".
Since I started reading I was unable to keep my hands of of it!
You don't believe me?
Once I started reading my mind was beginning to rest after a long time.
Magician Apprentice - The first one in the series
The story is about an orphan who is sent to the beach to get some clams for the castle chief which goes horribly wrong. It turns out to be the most exhausting and dangerous fishing trip he ever went to, he almost drowned he saw a wild boar that almost killed him too and if it weren't for a forest hunter he wouldn't be alive to become one of the most powerful mages the world has ever seen. I wont spoil the story too much for you, but after being greeted by the castle mage Kulgan he discovered that he has raw potential that the first mages were able to harvest deep within themselves.
The story is long and interesting as some of you may know, I strongly recommend it :)
Give it a go!
Was this enough to make you read it?
For those who hate to read - this is not me btw...
The Magician is divided in two books in the European version.
The Magician Apprentice and the Magician Master
The UK version is a single book with both stories.
Should we read?
Most of us enjoy exploring the wonderful world of books and all that they have to offer, but there are some of us who preffer audio books and other types of media.
